Five supplements that work all day and all night!
“MY OWN JOURNEY HAS INVOLVED A STUDIED APPROACH TO SUPPLEMENTS, VITAMINS, AND HORMONES. HERE, I DISCUSS FIVE THAT ARE KNOWN TO HAVE TRUE HEALTH BENEFITS”…………..Clint Potter, M.D.
FISH OIL…aka omega 3’s
In all of our cells we have a balance of Omega-6 and Omega-3 fatty acids…most of our diets are full of Omega 6’s (cooking oils, margarine, etc)…what we need are more of the Omega 3’s….those come from fish, specifically fatty fish….you don’t have to like fish to consume the vitamin….here’s why rebalancing Omega 3’s and 6’s matters:
**We have seen proven, reproducible results in large clinical trials that have shown the following:
- Severe Depression symptoms are improved
- Joint Pain reduction is achieved
Powerful lipid lowering and triglyceride lowering effects then contribute to smooth vascular blood vessels and healthy blood flow thru the heart and brain…. Kind of important in preventing the #1 cause of death (Heart Disease).
Vitamin D (which is actually a Hormone)
Most of us get some Vitamin D from our daily exposure to sunlight, but in reality, we simply do not get OPTIMAL amounts from sunlight alone……Important? YOU BET!!
This hormone/vitamin is crucial for bone strength and health. It walks hand in hand with Magnesium and Vitamin K-2. Consider the fact that 1/3 of all women will suffer a debilitating fracture or broken bone in their adult life, and we are reminded of the benefits of this vitamin.
**Also of note are multiple LARGE studies showing Vitamin D can improve Mood Disorder, Brain Clarity and protect against Cognitive Decline (Alzheimer Dementia)
Creatine
The super yet basic source of Energy for cells!
It is naturally found in meat but is readily absorbed in vitamin form for my Vegan friends. With extra energy, our cells can perform better and that means better results. It also shows promise in studies involving brain related diseases like major depression.
**Do not listen to the old “scares” you may have heard about at the local gym. That form of “Creatine” was NEVER approved to take.
Creatinine is accepted for use by major and competitive athletes…and is approved by the IOC (International Olympic Committee)
Turmeric/Curcumin
A Great Anti Inflammatory agent. It helps protect both the Gut (stomach), and now we know it helps decrease the level of inflammatory enzymes in joints. It also works inside the Gut (stomach) lining.
**As Hippocrates said, “all diseases begin in the Gut”…
He also said, “Let food be they medicine and Medicine be thy food”
Melatonin
Another a hormone we confuse with “vitamin”!
**If you are thinking is this the “sleep” hormone, you are Right!
Melatonin is produced by the body when we are “ready to fall asleep.”
Typically, when the sun goes down, our Melatonin levels begin to rise (hence why most of us sleep when it becomes dark outside). Think eons ago before we had televisions and computers keeping us awake.
This is one example where more is NOT better. There seems to be a “ceiling effect” of Melatonin and taking more than 6mg/night won’t equal more benefit.
**Remember, we Heal when we sleep!!!
AND A BONUS VITAMIN FOR GOOD MEASURE….
(NAC) OR N-AcetylCysteine
NAC is a stand-out anti-oxidant and promotes the production of an enzyme called Glutathione, critical as a protective effect on the body and energy cells like mitochondria.
It also helps remove heavy metals (toxins) from the body. NAC is one of the true “detoxifying agents” in the body.
It’s been shown to reduce: Obsession, Irritability, and Protect Against Cognitive Decline.
That’s my take on five super Vitamins & Hormones with proven benefit. Note I never used the word “cures”, not even once!
