Plaquex is a mixture of essential phospholipids (lecithins or Phosphatidyl Cholines) made from soy beans. It is a new treatment from Europe for atherosclerosis – the deposit of fatty plaques in arteries and other blood vessels. The most important effect of Plaquex is its remarkable ability to reduce plaque deposition in the artery wall. It also lowers blood cholesterol levels. An important therapeutic application of Plaquex treatment is increasing the hearts ability to withstand stress. This application is valuable for individuals who have suffered from heart attack or other heart injury. The “atherosclerotic plaque” that blocks an artery is composed of many constituents, but in general has two main ones, namely cholesterol and calcium. When treated with chelation therapy the calcium is addressed. Plaquex addresses the cholesterol component. The cholesterol involved in blocking arteries is the infamous “LDL or ‘bad’ cholesterol.” The “good” HDL cholesterol seems to actually help reverse the negative effects of LDL (bad) cholesterol.
As we age, the PC in the cell membranes becomes damaged by toxins, detergents, free radicals, heavy metals, smoking, hypertension, high blood sugar as well as high levels of stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline. With aging, the body is no longer able to produce enough PC to repair this damage. Consequences of this damage are cardiovascular disease with plaque deposits in the blood vessels, liver damage, kidney damage and brain damage.
Before the first Plaquex treatment is given, blood samples are taken for determination of important serum parameters of organ function, which will be monitored during the course of the Plaquex treatment. A check-up is usually done by Dr. Clint Potter, who will discuss your present use of medications such as Beta-Blockers, Nitroglycerin and also supplements, diet and exercise with you.
It is administered intravenously over a period of 90 minutes. You will be escorted to a comfortable private room, were you will be monitored by our nursing staff and Dr. Clint Potter. The most common side effect is burning at the IV site. Other side effects include fever, headache, nausea or vomiting. Plaquex can be alternated with classical Chelation treatments.
If you are interested in finding out whether Plaquex might benefit you, we encourage you to schedule an appointment to speak with Dr. Clint Potter, who can discuss your symptoms, history and determine if this technique is suitable for you.
